Did you know that 40% of U.S. Urban travel is 2 miles or less?
and that
90% of those trips are taken by car?!
The streets in NYC are totally crowded, but I was surprised and a little disappointed by those stats. CLIF Bar was too. So, to try to get people out of their cars and onto their bikes, they’ve initiated the CLIF Bar 2 Mile Challenge. CLIF Bar will be giving away a total of $100,000 to three charities. There are three teams, with people from all over the country being asked to join a team, trade in their car keys for a bike helmet, and log their miles on the 2MC website. Each team is riding for a different charity, and at the end of the Challenge, the charity represented by the team with the most points will get an additional $25,000!
I am so excited to be the team leader for the Red Team, which is riding for Trips for Kids. Trips for Kids reaches out to at-risk-youth through mountain bike rides and Earn-A-Bike programs and I am proud to be logging my miles for them!
I hope you will join me and the Red Team!!!
